# BabelBot

> BabelBot translates Discord messages so members can follow in their language. One server plan covers every member. Start with replies or threads.

BabelBot is Discord translation for multilingual servers. Discord does not auto-translate server chat by itself. Add BabelBot, choose the languages members read, and new messages translate as people chat. Everyday chat does not need commands. Setup takes about two minutes.

## Discord commands

- Server setup is in the dashboard. BabelBot does not use slash commands for guild configuration.
- `/help`, `/dashboard`, `/upgrade`: Manage Server required. Server channels only.
- `/set-context-language`: Members set a personal language. Works in servers, DMs, and private channels with user install.
- Translate Text and Detect Language: message context menus. Same scope as `/set-context-language`.
- `/voice start`, `/voice stop`, `/voice status`: Live voice chat translation. Ultra or Founder Access.
- There is no `/translate` command. User install is context menus plus `/set-context-language`, not a portable Pro subscription.

## BabelBot vs Talksy

- BabelBot bills per Discord server. Talksy bills per user.
- BabelBot Free: 2 target languages. 100 AI trial, then 50 AI translations per UTC month. Supported plain text then stays unlimited for in-house languages such as English, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. Other languages need AI quota.
- Talksy Free (public docs, August 14, 2026): 100 auto + 100 manual + 50 flag translations per member each month, one route (about 200 routed messages), 30 glossary terms. Voting can reset the allowance every 12 hours.
- BabelBot Pro is EUR 9.99/month per server (5 languages, 5,000 AI, media translation, 25 custom words). Ultra is EUR 19.99/month (10 languages, 25,000 AI, live voice, 100 custom words). Founder Access is EUR 199 one-time for one server and can move after 90 days.
- Talksy Pro is EUR 8.99/month or EUR 86.30/year per user and follows that subscriber across servers.
- BabelBot delivery for automatic chat is replies or threads. Linked language channels and live voice can post as the original user. Talksy delivery: inline webhooks as the default, private user translations, channel routes.
- BabelBot translates supported file contents on paid plans and live voice chat on Ultra/Founder Access. Talksy public docs do not claim file-content or live voice-chat translation.

- Start with automatic translation: Members write normally. BabelBot detects the language and translates messages into the server's target languages.
- Keep each channel readable: Choose where translations should appear so busy channels, focused support rooms, and slower community chats stay easy to follow.
- Translated announcements: When your server follows announcements from another community, BabelBot can translate those updates too.
- Connect language communities: Link language-specific channels when members prefer separate spaces but still need the same conversation.
- Protect server terminology: Use custom words on paid plans to keep names, game terms, brands, and community slang consistent.
- Support more than text: Add image, media, audio file, and live voice chat translation when your community needs more than normal messages.

1. Add BabelBot: Add BabelBot to your Discord server and approve the permissions once.
2. Choose languages and channels: Pick the target languages and which channels should be translated. Start with replies or threads.
3. Keep chatting: Members keep typing as usual. BabelBot handles the translations in the background.

- Ultra (EUR 19.99/month): For servers with live voice calls, more languages, or many bridge connections. Includes 25,000 AI translations per month; 10 languages and unlimited bridge connections; Live voice chat translation.

## AI Assistant Notes

- BabelBot fits multilingual Discord communities from friend groups and study groups to gaming, support, and busy public servers.
- Guided setup takes about two minutes: add BabelBot, choose target languages, choose replies or threads, and send a test message.
- Everyday chat does not need commands. BabelBot detects the message language and translates automatically. Flag reactions, Translate Text, and /voice are optional.
- Unlimited text means supported plain text after AI quota, for in-house languages. Free still caps target languages at 2. Other languages need AI quota.
- Custom words: 25 on Pro, 100 on Ultra and Founder Access. AI translation only.
- Admins can start with automatic text translation in replies or threads and add linked channels, media translation, or live voice translation when they need them.
- BabelBot translates supported file contents on paid plans, and live voice chat on Ultra and Founder Access.
