The story of one message

From Japanese to understood in four steps.

No commands, no copying into Google Translate, no switching apps. Here is everything BabelBot does with an ordinary message, in order.

Step 01: 9:00 PM

Yuki posts in Japanese

She types like she always does. No language tags, no bot commands, nothing special to remember.

YYuki#general

トーナメントはいつからするか知ってる人いる?

Step 02: milliseconds later

Language detected

BabelBot reads the message and recognizes Japanese automatically. Nobody had to tell it which language was which.

JA Detected, 98% confidence
Step 03: translations ready

Your server's languages, ready

This server uses English and Spanish, so BabelBot posts both translations for everyone.

BBabelBotAPP

Does anyone know when the tournament starts?

BBabelBotAPP

¿Alguien sabe cuándo empieza el torneo?

Step 04: delivered

Lands as a tidy reply

Translations appear under the original message. Yuki's channel stays readable, and nobody scrolls past five copies of the same chat.

Reply mode · Thread mode also available

Prefer replies?

The default. Translations sit right under each message, tagged with the detected language.

Every plan

Busy room?

Thread mode tucks translations away so fast channels stay readable while nothing gets lost.

Every plan

Two separate rooms?

Admins link language channels. BabelBot posts each translation in the matching channel under the original member's name.

What you get

Everything happens inside Discord.

New messages translate automatically in the channels you enable. Members can also add a flag reaction or choose Translate Text for a single message. Anyone in a voice channel can start live voice chat translation with /voice start.

Three ways to show translations

Show translations as replies, put them in threads, or post them to linked language channels under the original member's name. Choose a different option for each channel, then change the setting later. The demo above shows all three.

Every plan

Flag reactions

React with a flag to choose the translation language. Admins decide whether BabelBot replies in the channel or sends the result in a private DM.

Every plan

Voice chat translation

Live speech becomes readable text while the call is in progress, as clean speaker lines or detailed embeds.

Media translation

Screenshots, PDFs, voice notes, and video attachments are translated too. The venue-sign photo in the demo shows it in action.

Your server's own vocabulary

Guild names, nicknames, and game terms stay spelled exactly how your community spells them. Members can use message actions for Translate Text and Detect Language, with one saved reading language for those requests.

Pro: 25 custom words; Ultra: 100

Onboarding

Easy setup. About two minutes.

Guided onboarding connects BabelBot to your server, lets you choose target languages and where translations appear, then checks one test message. After that, automatic chat translation needs no extra setup.

~2  minGuided onboarding, start to finish

Four short steps in the dashboard, then BabelBot works while you get back to your server.

Your steps

  1. Invite BabelBot with one link
  2. Pick the languages your members read
  3. Pick replies or threads
  4. Send one test message and watch it land

Two minutes covers connecting your server, choosing languages and where translations appear, and sending your test message. If Discord is slow, setup takes a little longer.

The bridge function is a lifesaver for my international server. After years of trying other translators, this is the only one I'll keep using.

We needed a bot that gets context, jokes, and sayings, not just literal word swaps. Image and PDF translation sealed it for us.

The dashboard makes translation easy and is much more capable than most bots. The developer is super responsive.

One automatic translation counts once, even with several target languages. Each translation posted to a linked channel and each on-demand request count separately. After the AI allowance, BabelBot keeps translating supported plain text in English, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and 30+ more supported languages. Other languages need AI quota.
