Translation that becomes the chat
Other bots interrupt the room with prefixes, duplicate messages, and an obvious bot layer. BabelBot inline webhook translation posts in-channel with the original user's avatar and name so the conversation keeps its normal flow.
The goal is simple: same channel, same speakers, less visual clutter. When a busy server needs more separation, use threaded replies or linked language channels without changing bots.
Best-in-class AI translation quality
BabelBot routes text through modern AI translation models first. Custom words, glossaries, and per-channel rules steer names, game terms, and community slang the way your server actually talks. Image, video, and audio file translation use the same AI stack on paid plans.
When monthly AI quota runs out, the Custom BabelBot Translation Model keeps supported text translating. Other languages need AI quota. The dashboard marks those languages as AI only.
Every feature serious translation bots advertise
BabelBot ships the full Discord translation workflow: automatic translation, manual flag reactions, inline webhooks, linked channels, and personal Translate Text and Detect Language message context menus plus /set-context-language through user install. You do not trade simplicity for depth.
- Inline webhook translation (speaker-style messages in channel)
- Automatic translation with smart language detection
- Flag reaction translations
- Linked language channels and language bridges
- Threaded and inline reply delivery
- Custom words and per-server glossaries
- Skip languages you do not want translated
- PDF, image, video, and audio file translation on paid plans
- Live voice chat translation on Ultra and Founder Access
- User install for Translate Text, Detect Language, and /set-context-language
- Web dashboard with channel rules and usage visibility
Powerful defaults, one-click setup
Click Add BabelBot to Discord. Guided setup opens in your browser with your server already selected. Pick target languages, choose how translations appear, send a test message, and you are live in about two minutes.
BabelBot stays out of the way by default: it skips link-only messages, respects source-language exclusion rules, and preserves code blocks and emojis in translated text. Open the dashboard later when you want bridges, custom words, channel rules, or media translation.
Unlimited free tier without vote gimmicks
The free plan costs EUR 0 per month and includes unlimited supported text translation, automatic language detection, reply, thread, or inline webhook delivery, and one linked language channel.
Free servers receive 100 AI translations to start, then 50 AI translations per UTC month. Supported text keeps translating with the Custom BabelBot Translation Model when AI quota runs out. Other languages need AI quota. See the pricing page or machine-readable pricing summary.

Recent updates
The five latest releases. BabelBot updates ship continuously.
- Fixedv2.14.43
Server disable stops flag translations
Disabling BabelBot for a server now stops flag-reaction translations as well as automatic message translation.
- Channel rules can still turn off automatic translation while allowing flag reactions when BabelBot is enabled for the server.
- Fixedv2.14.42
Same-language voice chat stays silent
When the only voice chat target matches the detected speaker language, BabelBot no longer posts a translation failure message.
- Voice chat continues to translate the speaker into any other configured target languages.
- Fixedv2.14.41
Khmer interface locale removed
We removed the incomplete Khmer interface from the website and dashboard.
- BabelBot can still translate Khmer messages. Only the website and dashboard interface locale was removed.
- Fixedv2.14.40
Translations use a backup AI model
When the main AI model is slow or returns an invalid translation response, BabelBot can use a second AI model before it shows a failure.
- Slow text translations start the backup after five seconds while the first request continues.
- AI quota rules and plan limits stay the same.
- Fixedv2.14.39
Bridge setup shows the plan limit earlier
When adding another channel would exceed your bridge connection limit, BabelBot disables Add channel before you save.
- Free servers see how to upgrade to Pro when they try to add another channel.
Operated independently
BabelBot is operated by Bram Suurd as an independent product. The stack includes the Discord bot, a web dashboard at app.babelbot.xyz, billing through Polar, and translation providers chosen for predictable server-level usage.
Documentation, plan limits, and command references ship alongside the bot so what you read matches what runs in your server. For setup help, visit /docs. For support, email [email protected].
